House Centipede

House centipedes are tannish-brown and generally measure an inch and a half long. They are very docile and will typically flee when approached. Their bites are less toxic and painful. These critters are attracted to high-moisture areas, such as a dripping faucet or a leaking hose.

Soil Centipede

Soil centipedes are red and just shy of 2 inches long. These worm-like centipedes are most commonly found under rocks and digging through the soil and can burrow over two feet deep. Interestingly, soil centipedes do not have eyes!

Tiger Centipede

Tiger centipedes are about 4-7 inches and range in color from blue to orange. While longer and thicker, they are less likely to bite than the other species. As a general rule of thumb, the bigger the tiger centipede, the more painful the bite will be. Interestingly, this type of centipede is actually sold as a pet.

Stone Centipede

Stone centipedes are reddish-brown and can grow slightly over an inch long. As their name suggests, these centipedes commonly hide under rocks and logs on upper soil layers. Unless you are allergic to the venom, a bite from a stone centipede feels akin to a bee sting.

Centipede Inspection

During the inspection, our experts thoroughly examine your property to identify centipede hiding spots and conducive conditions. They focus on moisture-prone areas, such as basements and bathrooms. The goal is to assess the extent of the infestation and any entry points. Inspections allow us to create a customized treatment plan that eliminates centipedes and prevents future infestations.

Initial Centipede Treatment

The initial treatment reduces the centipede population and their food sources. We apply targeted treatments in areas where centipedes are likely to hide, such as cracks, crevices, and moisture-rich spaces.

These treatments address adult centipedes and their larvae. Safe, pet-friendly solutions provide minimal disruption while eliminating the current infestation and applying a barrier to prevent future issues.

Follow-Up Centipede Treatment

Follow-up treatments provide long-term protection against centipedes. After the initial application, we return for additional treatments, focusing on areas where centipedes might re-emerge.

The follow-up service includes re-inspection, reapplication of eco-friendly solutions, and adjustments to the treatment plan if necessary. These treatments aim to break the centipede life cycle and maintain a pest-free environment.

How much does pest control cost for centipedes?
The cost of professional pest control can vary depending on the size of the infestation and the area to be treated. What are the signs of a centipede infestation?
The most common sign of a centipede infestation is seeing several of them crawling around your home, particularly around drains. Since these critters are nocturnal, you may not see them at all. Additional signs of a centipede infestation include waking up with bite marks, frequently seeing other bugs around your home, or finding their shed skin (molts).
Are centipedes harmful?
Centipedes are generally not aggressive; some species can inflict painful bites if provoked. Additionally, some individuals are allergic to the venom that centipedes inject. Whether you're allergic or not, we suggest you advise caution when approaching and handling centipedes.
What should you do if centipedes come into your home?
If you see some centipedes in your home or suspect that you have a centipede problem, call a professional pest control service like Simple Pest. We will help identify the extent of the infestation, eliminate the current population, and take measures to prevent future infestations. In the meantime, you can eliminate the centipedes you see by vacuuming them.
