Varied Carpet Beetle

Varied carpet beetles are about 1/10 inch, oval-shaped, and have a unique yellow, black, and white pattern on their back. Don’t rely on the color to identify them; they lose these scales as they age. These beetles eat dead insects, clothes, and carpets and can do severe damage.

Furniture Carpet Beetle

With a length of 1/8 inch, furniture carpet beetles are slightly larger and rounder than the varied carpet beetles. Distinguishing between the furniture and varied carpet beetles can be tricky since they are similar in size and coloration. The primary way to determine is by looking at the larvae. Furniture carpet beetle larvae are white with brown bands across the body, while the varied carpet beetle has dark hairs.

Black Carpet Beetle

Black carpet beetles are about 1/8 inch long and have a shiny black appearance. Of these three most common types, the black carpet beetles lay the most eggs, and these eggs hatch the fastest. If you spot several back carpet beetles, just know that there may be eggs about to hatch. These eggs are usually laid near a food source such as carpet, clothing, or dog food.

Our Carpet Beetle Control Process

Carpet Beetle Inspection

Our professional inspection focuses on identifying the extent of your carpet beetle infestation. Technicians will check for larvae, eggs, and signs of damage in carpets, upholstery, and stored fabrics. We also inspect air ducts and closets for signs of infestation. Afterward, we provide a detailed assessment and recommend a treatment plan to target active infestations and prevent future issues.

Initial Carpet Beetle Treatment

The initial treatment eliminates carpet beetles at all lifecycle stages. We use targeted insecticides on areas like carpets, furniture, and closets. We use eco-friendly products that are safe for pets and families but tough on beetles. Our first treatment stops active infestations by killing adult beetles, larvae, and eggs. Additionally, technicians will advise on preventive measures to limit future infestations, such as regular vacuuming and proper fabric storage.

Follow-Up Carpet Beetle Treatment

Follow-up treatments help eradicate carpet beetles from your home completely. After the initial service, our team returns to inspect for any lingering beetle activity. If necessary, we reapply treatments in key areas to target newly hatched larvae and any missed insects. Consistent follow-up helps maintain long-term control and protects your home from carpet beetles.

What are the signs of a carpet beetle infestation?
The most common sign of a carpet beetle infestation is seeing several crawling around your home, particularly on carpets or clothing. Since these critters are nocturnal, you may not see them at all. Additional signs of a carpet beetle infestation include waking up with itchy red bumps, finding holes in your clothing, or seeing their furry shed skin.
Are carpet beetles harmful?
Carpet beetles will not bite or carry disease, but some people experience skin reactions to carpet beetle larvae hairs. Depending on the sensitivity to these allergens, the skin can become red and itchy and may spread to other parts of the body.
